After driving from 1:30-5:50 with all the kids in the car, making a bunch of stops before we could really get going, and stopped traffic on I-15 for almost 30 minutes…we managed to bring home
our newest family addition: Mya (My-ah)
Getting Mya was Deric’s idea. He and the kids have been wanting a puppy for sometime now. It was never really feasible while he was in school and working full time because it would require him to be in charge of taking care of it. I was too busy with babies to add to the burden and responsibility. But now he is at home 3/4 of the month and fully capable of training and taking care of a dog.
He has been looking on KSL classifieds for puppies here and there. The other day he showed me this one; an American Eskimo. I could see right away why he wanted her. She is basically a white version of his late dog, Missy, who was part of our family until River was about eighteen months old, and in Deric’s life for almost 16 years.
Doing some research he found these are hearty little dogs that actually were bred to be circus dogs and later to be sold to audience members. Their most famous trick is to walk a tightrope! They do well with families and don’t get to be very big. (Mya is a mini.)
Deric chose to take Mya because he wants to have puppies to sell someday. She is a pure breed and we bought breeding rights. Plus, she is really cuddly and sweet and since she is mainly his I didn’t object.
Yes, I think I’m crazy for taking on a puppy and having a fourth kid within a couple weeks of each other…but, life is crazy regardless of such things, isn’t it? Where’s my sense of adventure, anyway? 😉
