Saturday I took 5 kids (Thomas, Molly, River, and two of River’s friends) to Cherry Hill (a nearby water park) from 10:30-1:30 by myself. It was a lot of work…but, I think they ended up having a great time. They were mad that I didn’t want to go with them to the lazy river or anything. But there was no way I was keeping track of five non-swimmers myself! So we stayed in the pirate ship area. River got some fun gifts from her friends and we ate Hello Kitty cupcakes and lunchables from the store. Normally I make food and treats…but I just wasn’t up to it. ———————
This was the least planned party I have ever thrown. I ran to the store for cupcakes and balloons 30 minutes before and stopped at KFC for dinner on the way back. The plates and such I bought on clearance a couple months back and forgot about them until I got back home with the food. Then I threw everything up really fast.
Toys R Us had clearance the other day so I grabbed a wooden puppet theater for $10 (marked down from $30), and bought her a sewing machine and a microscope (new in boxes) from yard sales last summer for about $5 total. I forgot to give them to her at Christmas. But it made it easy to shop for her for her birthday! She got a Hello Kitty blanket and sheet set from Grandma and Grandpa Speck. They watched on FaceTime while Wesley ate his cake and River open her gifts. Deric’s parents got her a bag of Hello Kitty items. She loved it all. I took it away before he ate too much. I couldn’t stand the thought of him eating that much of the food coloring and sugar. But, it made a few fun photos! I think everyone was quite satisfied.
